Students apply a blend of oil-degrading microbes and hydrocarbon-encapsulating polymer to oil and examine results and draw conclusions regarding the effectiveness of each approach. This kit has prepared stained vegetable oil for simulating crude oil to eliminate the hazards and disposal costs of using a real sample. For hands-on learning, it includes materials for 15 groups of students, including an oil degrading microbe blend, simulated crude oil, nutrient solution, hydrocarbon encapsulating powder, plastic vials and cups, and cotton balls. Includes a teacher’s manual and student study guide for instructional use, as well as a material safety data sheet (MSDS) packet for product information and handling procedures. Suitable for age 13 and older with adult supervision.Features
