Description
Students model four ocean ecology scenarios as they investigate the effect of farm and industrial waste on marine life. Brine shrimp populations, water pH, and water density are monitored throughout the progression of ecological contamination, water treatment, and recovery. During the study, students learn about life cycles and representative sampling. Allow two 45 minute lab periods on consecutive days, then time for population counts on subsequent days. Ideal as a class project or completed in small groups. Required, but not included: five 1 gallon containers, balance or scale, and a flashlight.Features
