Along with the kit activities, the States of Matter Delta Science Reader (and complementary Skillbuilders booklet that helps students practice reading/grammar/writing/vocabulary skills with the content from the Delta Science Reader) further introduces students to matter and its physical properties. Students will: learn more about the 3 states of matter (solid, liquid, and gas) through text; read about changing from one state to another by melting, freezing, evaporation, and condensation; “meet” two scientists who work with matter in different states (one at a crayon factory and another in Antarctica); and finally, discover how heating gases keeps a hot air balloon afloat.

Delta Science Modules Edition 3 (DSM-3) consist of a total of 59 assorted kits ranging from Grade K to 8 levels, each with a step-by-step teacher guide, student readers, 12-14 interconnected activities, and enough equipment to serve up to 32 students.
