Use Post-it Notes® to help students get acquainted.
Supplies Needed
5 pack 3x3 Super Sticky Post-it® Notes 086844
Instructions

Think of a fun shape (such as flowers) to make out of Post-It® Notes and use the appropriate colors.

On the back of each Post-It® Note, write a meet-and-greet question (favorite vacation, if you could spend $1 million, etc). The more questions, the better.

Display the Post-It® Notes in a fun shape.

Have each student pick a Post-It® Note off the board and answer the question on the back.

Make sure everyone gets to pick a note - even the teacher.

This same technique can be helpful in reviewing for exams. Instead of meet-and-greet questions, write study questions on the back of each Post-It® Note instead.
