Description

CPO Science features complete, coordinated active learning core curriculum programs rich in STEM connections and aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Colliding Pendulum features colliding steel bobs that conserve energy and momentum to better than 97 percent. Through experimentation, students discover first-hand that bobs of equal mass transfer momentum as they collide. By colliding bobs of unequal mass, students will learn how momentum conservation allows them to predict the mass of an unknown object.

STEM concepts covered in Colliding Pendulum include harmonic motion, frequency, period, graphing, mass, forces, Newton's laws of motion, elastic and inelastic, collisions, momentum, and conservation of momentum.

• CPO Science Link engages students and boosts understanding of key concepts with hands-on science and engineering investigations and innovative digital learning experiences
• All modules consist of investigations and teacher's guide, hands-on equipment, tablet-enabled learning, and online multimedia content with whiteboard resources
• Program for middle school or high school accommodates differentiated instruction and can be used to enhance any existing traditional or alternative curriculum
• Concepts covered meet STEM, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and Common Core State Standards Initiatives
• Colliding Pendulum addresses MS-PS2-1, MS-PS4-1, HS-PS2-1, HS-PS2-2, HS-PS2-3, HS-PS3-1, and HS-PS4-1 for NGSS performance expectations
