Introducing Sax® Workshops-in-a-Box
An Easy-to-Use Professional Development Tool
Sax® Workshops-in-a-Box are designed for teachers to use with other professionals in an in-service workshop setting. Share them with other art teachers at your monthly meetings or after school with classroom teachers to promote cross-collaboration. Additionally, the kits are a great way to provide substitute teachers with engaging classroom content.
Each kit contains a lesson plan with instructions and enough materials for 10 participants. All lesson plans support National Visual Arts Standards.
Diner Display Case Paintings
The Diner Display Workshop-in-a-Box will allow participants to create diner imagery focusing on the artists' use of color, brush stroke, texture, and shadow. Artist Wayne Thiebaud has inspired all of us with his wonderful works featuring "diner" foods such as cakes, pie, and ice cream. Kit includes: acrylic paint, brushes, and canvas panels.
Mini Mandala Coloring Books
The Mini Mandala Workshop-in-a-Box will allow participants to create an original coloring book of mini mandalas as a group or individual project. Mandalas will be created free hand or with a template. Kit includes: book, colored pencils, blending pencils, and markers.
Fanciful Fish
The Fanciful Fish Workshop-in-a-Box gives participants the opportunity to study both relief sculpture and techniques. Using simple techniques and Model Magic®, participants will create relief sculptures of fish, a subject with numerous sizes, forms, and textures. Kit includes: Model Magic®, Sax® Patterned Impression Mats, and flawed mat board.
Masters in Plaster
The Masters in Plaster Workshop-in-a-Box will allow participants to give their own twist, in the form of texture and dimension, to the works of master artists using the medium Plast'r Craft®. These art works will be a bit unusual as they use a pizza box as a canvas. Upon completion, the box will become its own easel for displaying the work. Kit includes: Plast'r Craft®, acrylic paint, and cutting blade. Pizza boxes not included.
