Molymod Graphite - Polymorphs of Carbon Model Kit suitable for use in entire classroom or small group instruction lets the students to visualize how the weak bonds between graphite layers overcome by friction from a pencil rubbing against paper and leaving subsequent layers as residue. Kit in compartmentalized storage box includes an instructional leaflet, 45 carbon spheres, 51 gray medium links and 16 long, flexible, purple links. Model molded in durable, colored plastic is perfect to demonstrate polymorphism and consists of 3 layers having 15 carbon atoms in each layer. Kit contains 45 black carbon atom centers designed to represent the dsp3 hybridized orbitals and the trigonal bypyramidal arrangement of atoms in graphite. Set can be repeatedly assembled and disassembled as needed and can also be used with the diamond and buckminsterfullerene models to illustrate allotropes.Features
