These easy and exciting pencil toppers are created using Crayola® Model Magic® to transform an ordinary pencil with extraordinary shapes and characters!

Supplies Needed

Crayola® Model Magic® Primary Colors Classpack - 75 1-Oz. Pkgs. of Red, Blue, Yellow and White
Faber-Castell® Colored Pencils, 24-Color Set
Glitter Glue Sticks .35 oz., 75 tubes, 12 each of 6 colors
Sax® True Flow® Multi-Media Varnish, Quart
Wikki Stix,® Primary Colors, Pkg. of 48
Wikki Stix®, Neon Colors, Pkg. of 48

Standards

CONTENT Standard #1:
Understanding and applying media, techniques and processes.

Using knowledge of structures and functions.

Instructions

Use the Model Magic® colors as they are or mix them together to create different colors.

Form the shape of the chosen character by rolling material into a ball, creating the body, etc.

Insert colored pencil into the bottom of the character. Continue character's body, hair, tail, etc. by wrapping down around pencil if desired.

Add details to the character with additional Model Magic®, Glitter Glue and/or Wikki Stix®.

Optionial: Use colored Art Wire instead of Wikki Stix® if students are old enough to understand that wire could scratch them.

Let dry.

Optional final step: Use varnish on part or all of the character for a glazed look.
